Stargazing event at Salhouse Broad

If looking up at the stars is your thing, come and join the EXPERIENCE team on Saturday 25th March 2023 to our free stargazing event at Salhouse Broad!

Norfolk boasts some of the darkest skies in the country. Salhouse Broad is one of the places in the Broads National Park that is ideal for stargazing and has been designated as a Dark Skies Hub. A new viewing platform has been installed specifically to enable visitors to enjoy the incredible dark skies and take in the universe’s wonders. It will also be a chance to celebrate Earth Hour, a symbolic event to show our collective support for the planet.

There will be a host of free activities, music and hot food for you to enjoy:

6:30pm – 7:30pm: Arrival and Welcome

Music performance by Hot Stove 3 and complimentary food and drinks will be served.

7:30 – 8:30pm: Talk and discussions with astronomers from the Norwich Astronomical Society

You will be able to use professional equipment to optimise your sky-watching experience.

08:30 – 9pm: End of the event

Music performance by Hot Stove 3.

Please note that due to the nature of the paths and ground, this event is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility.

Car Park: The use of the car park is free – please ensure you record your vehicle registration on the registration form so we can register your car on our list to ensure you don’t get a parking ticket after the event.

Distance from the car park to the event is around 600m (12-15 min walk). Please follow the signs directing you from the car park to the event. There will be lights along the path leading to the event site, participants are advised to stay on the main path and follow directions as advised.
Public toilets are situated in the car park.

Although there will be lights on the path from the car park to the event site, the luminosity will not be optimal therefore participants are asked to bring their own torches with them.
