The Norfolk Broads are a uniquely beautiful place to be uplifted by the sights and sounds of nature across changing seasons. The Nancy Oldfield Trust is a registered charity dedicated to making sure everybody can explore these stunning surroundings. They have three motor cruisers, each with a wheelchair lift, galley and toilet facilities. All are heated for making the most of diamond bright winter days when reeds dance in the wind and you’re cosy in the cabin, looking out for wildlife. Lifejackets, buoyancy aids and binoculars are provided too.
White Admiral is a 28 ft. electric powered cabin cruiser carrying up to 8 passengers for a quiet eco-friendly trip along the River Ant and around Barton Broad, perfect for bird watching, especially in winter when flocks follow time-honoured migration paths from the far north to the east coast. Nancy Bee II and Maureen Kenyon are diesel powered motor boats, usually moored at Ludham Bridge, ideal for exploring the Rivers Ant, Bure and Thurne. The River Ant winds past the How Hill estate with its grand thatched Edwardian house, or head downstream to the picturesque ruins of St Benet’s Abbey then on to the faster running River Bure.
This half day cruise is led by a cheery volunteer driver, who’ll share a wealth of local knowledge about the wildlife habitats around you.
If you fall in love with the Broads and want to stay longer, the Trust offers spacious, fully accessible bungalow accommodation sleeping up to 10 people.
