As winter shadows gather, Sandringham holds back the darkness with captivating ribbons of light. Wander the meandering trail through woods and historic parkland and see the Royal Estate like never before, illuminated as by fairy enchantments. Stunning architectural installations and bewitching light play, including interactive elements, will guide you along the way, as the frosty winter air dances with ambient music. Along the path (about a mile long) you’ll come across unexpected Wow! moments, making memories to weave through your winter dreams.
Depending on how quickly you walk, the trail takes around 60-90 minutes. Half way is a welcoming little kiosk, where you can buy mulled wine, warm drinks and delectable luxury hot chocolate, steaming comforts to ward off the chilly night. Wrap up for the winter weather!
At the end of the trail, gather with friends to chat around the fire pit and warm up in the glow of the flames. Bring marshmallows to toast – don’t forget the skewers! But if you do, don’t worry – there’s a place to buy marshmallows and sticks on site. And plenty more besides! You’ll find treats like churros, waffles, pizza and roasted chestnuts in the Sandringham Courtyard.
Deliberately not Christmassy, this is a sparkling celebration of winter magic, designed to work with the natural darkness of the seasonal landscape. In fact, the crisp clean days of January, after the festivities, are a perfect time to visit. Lift your spirits and explore the brilliance of the night.
