Remember when you wanted to be an explorer? Out on a wooden boat, foraging for food, swimming in hidden creeks, a lifetime away from now. If only there were a place where childhood memories resurfaced and dreams came racing back. An untamed landscape, miles away from the stress of the world…
Well there is! The Coastal Exploration Company will take you on an adventure to explore the wilderness of the North Norfolk marshes or Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve. They’ll tailor the trip to your wishes, whether you want an intimate experience on the engineless mussel flat or add the crab boat and whelker to form a flotilla of friends (20 in total).
All the CEC skippers are local, expert at guiding visitors through the unique environment they love and protect. They know the coolest wild swimming spots and best times to swim with the tide, pulled by the moon through exhilarating streams of moving water. And don’t worry, at low water they already checked for obstacles to make sure you’ll be safe.
You need 3 or 4 hours for a wild swim, and for foraging you’ll be out for the whole day, leaving on the morning tide to reach the best places. Whatever your adventure, you’ll stop for hot drinks and a delicious locally sourced meal, which might include artisan sourdough, Norfolk cheeses, homemade pies, steaming soup, delicious sweet treats and more. Can’t swim? No worries, with a floatation aid you can join in with your crew.
