Design your own personal exploration around the coastal treasures of Wells in North Norfolk. Head into the marsh on a bright autumn morning, take a sunset sail as evening softly falls at sea or navigate the creeks under running skies full of wings and the cry of returning geese.
You’ll sail aboard the ‘Wells Ferry’, a jolly little boat built in Stiffkey, just along the coast from Wells. She’s skippered by Nick and Chris, local sailors who’ve spent their whole lives around boats. Both are fully trained in first aid, sea survival and firefighting so you can relax and enjoy the trip knowing you’re in the safest of hands.
Maybe you’d like a peaceful meditative mood, or perhaps you’d welcome a full commentary covering local history, coastal legends, ghosts, Norfolk folklore, the unique ecology of the marsh, wildlife and the stunning spectacle of the migratory birds which make their own seasonal visits. Chat to the skippers about your ideas, they’re happy to answer all your questions, including recommending some lovely local pubs for when you’re back on dry land! It’s fine to take your own snacks and warming drinks too, if you fancy a treat on board.
The boat is easily accessible for wheelchairs (chairs can be taken on board) and if you have limited mobility, there’s a steady helping hand to get you comfortable for the trip. Sea dogs are very welcome, although most are lulled by the water and settle down to sleep for the whole journey!
